Processional to the Alter. While the Crucifix is lowered the Five
Mysteries of the Holy Rosary are sung by the Padrinos and
Madrinas (sponsors) on the steps. The ceremony dedicates
the month of May to the Blessed Virgin and the Holy Rosary.

1 Eleanor Hague also wrote several music books about californio
and Spanish-language music in the Americas. She worked with Lummis’ cylinder recordings, and
published some of her transcriptions of those recordings. Since she was here participating in this
event that included some of the Lummis informants, she would have had the opportunity to work directly
